据报道，禽流感已经导致美国大量鸡和火鸡感染病毒被宰杀。美国劳工部（Labor Department）15日表示，鸡蛋的批发价格上涨84.5%。超市里一打鸡蛋的零售价格6月份曾飙升至一打超过3美元。
去年12月份美国爆发的疫情主要是由沿密西西比河、太平洋而来的野生候鸟传染给当地禽类，其中明尼苏达州和爱荷华州最为严重。

The outbreak of avian flu caused wholesale prices for eggs to jump 84.5 percent in June, the Labor Department said Wednesday. The spike comes amid otherwise tame inflation across the rest of the economy. The producer price index, which measures the costs of goods and services before they reach consumers, increased 0.4 percent in June. Over the past 12 months, producer prices have actually fallen 0.7 percent due to lower oil and gasoline costs. Wholesale gas prices rose 4.3 percent last month but are down 30.3 percent from a year ago. Core prices, which exclude energy and food, rose 0.3 percent in June.
